The Coastal Conservation League and S.C. Department of Natural Resources need your help! Together, you'll build Manufactured Wire Reefs which will be used in future oyster reef restoration projects!

What's involved?

By working in teams, you'll use the tools provided to shape wire into oyster cages, and add then fill them with recycled oyster shells. Don't worry! No experience is needed, and the Volunteer Leads from the Coastal Conservation League and SC DNR will be onsite to help you every step of the way.

Why does this matter?

The completed wire oyster reefs play a pivotal role in helping keep our water ways healthy by supporting wild oyster populations and protecting our shorelines. Plus, it's a pretty fun project!

What to wear/bring

·        Reusable Water Bottle (Water Coolers Onsite)

REV will join paws4people to ride and walk down 3rd St. for the annual Azalea Festival Parade.    Volunteers who want to participated should –

This will count for 3.5 volunteer hours.  Depending on where we are in the float line up we may be finished sooner than noon.  

ONLY 4 or 5 people from REV can ride the float.

Most of our team will be walking alongside or in front of the float.

REV is teaming up with Summerville D.R.E.A.M. to sponsor "Third Thursday" in Hutchinson Square! Just like the name suggests, this opportunity takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Volunteers will work a tent promoting the UpTheGood Foundation and helping sell REV Gear to raise awareness and funds that will support local nonprofit organizations in Summerville.

This volunteer signup is for events related to the UpTheGood Foundation Powered By REV.  You can go respond to this need and use it for a catch all for events that may not have an specific REV Cares event signup. Please adjust the hours to reflect your accurate volunteer time.  The default is 3 hours.

The East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) Farmers Markets are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting at 9:00 AM. On these days, ECCO receives fresh produce from the Lowcountry Food Bank and distributes it to clients. Volunteers arrive at 9:00 AM to help with set up before clients start arriving at 10:00 AM. Volunteers help greet clients and load the items into their cars.

"Reality of Money" is an interactive financial simulation for teens, acting as a "crash course" in adult financial responsibility. Students navigate stations to manage, budget, and pay for expenses like housing and transportation based on a assigned salary, learning the consequences of their financial decisions.

Volunteers are needed to work table stations where 9th and 10th graders will visit as part of the simulation. 

No experience is needed, but just a willingness to read the notes at your station and help kids through the simulation. 

Volunteers should plan to arrive at 8:45 to allow for check-in, final setup, and event overview.

Time to honor our Veterans with the Welcome Home Celebration at Wilmington Int'l Airport after their day trip to Washington D.C.! 

Volunteering for this event includes arriving at the specified time to gather with our community in preperation for the Honor Flight plane to land.  Once the Veterans have disembarked the plane and make their way through security the celebration really begins.  Clapping, cheering, and thanking the Veterans in the Welcome Home celebration is your job! 

Bonus - Bring homemade Welcome Home, Thank You for Your Service and Sacrifice, or similar signs to hold as Veterans walk into the celebration area. 

Details will be updated closer to April 18th regarding parking and logistical plans. Time will also be updated as the flight times are set.

REV Adopted a Route at Meals on Wheels of Summerville!

It takes a village to feed the hungry. No that’s not the original quote but it sure seems appropriate when you visit us around 11 am and see the volume of people lined up to deliver meals. If you know what a LeMans start is to an old race… It seems like we should have an announcer in the background “And THEY’RE OFF!”

Truth be told, there’s no better day than one where you deliver to the homebound. You see the smile and are certain of the difference you make just by bringing a meal.

What does it take to be a volunteer? Besides the obvious compassion and love of community – you only need to be present to lend a hand. Our volunteers carry many jobs in helping to end hunger in Summerville. We’re sure we can find one to fit your time and talent which you’ll enjoy!

The HQ Tacoma is reserved if youwould like to use REV’s wheels instead of your own personal vehicle.

Volunteers are needed at the monthly food pantry hosted by Manna Ministries. Duties include greeting community members, helping to distribute food, loading food into cars / pulling wagons, and other duties as needed. 

Please wear your gold #UpTheGood t-shirts or sweatshirts, closed toe shoes, and bring a water bottle if you need one!

Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. REV is excited to continue rolling up our sleeves as an organization!

General volunteer hours related to the needs of My Sister's House.

You may count an hour of volunteer time if you collect needed supplies and stock the Blessing Box in Riegelwood. Located near Riegelwood Ballpark at the stop sign on Waccamaw Dr. (across from the Piggly Wiggly). 

Needed supplies include:

Canned fruits and vegetables

Canned or pouch soups

Canned or pouch chicken, tuna, or salmon

Peanut Butter

Plastic Jam/ Jelly containers

Instant Rice / Oatmeal

Boxes of Cereal

Small bottles of laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, etc. 

If you have a team member that wants to periodically check the box to see what is most needed that is great! You can also reach out to Mariah McDonald who organized and installed the box. 

Select an area Blessing Box to donate to and #UPTHEGOOD. This is a fantastic team building activity for branches and departments. Simply select your chosen Blessing Box from the following list and grab a few non-perishable food items, basic toiletries, or baby supplies while on your normal grocery run. From there, you can coordinate dropping off the items at the location selected with your team.

"The price of aluminum fluctuates on the stock market (typically from 35-85 cents/pound), and that is the amount of money that we get from recycling the pop tabs. The money we get from this is used to cover our electric bill every month, so the pop tabs make a huge difference to the RMHC Charleston House! The families here at RMHC Charleston are so thankful for your ongoing support."

Work with our team to put together small gifts for our local NICU nurses. Some months it will be attaching candies to cards and other months it may be stuffing bags with various goodies.

REV Day 2023 introduced our Helping Hands soap and dish scrubbies in-kind donations. Grab your needles and join the REV Crafters in their efforts to REV Up a local habitat home. 

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have had breast cancer and undergone mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.

We're teaming up with Project Linus to share new, handmade, washable blankets for seriously ill or traumatized children. Become a "Blanketeer" to help comfort children in need. This easy, no-sew activity can be done on your own time, and is a terrific opportunity to work as a team or with family and friends at home. All needed materials are available to you through the Employee and Community Engagement Team. 

The hearts are called “Bonding Hearts.” Baby keeps one and Mama keeps one for 24 hours effectively transferring their scent to it. Then they switch. This way, Mama has baby’s scent (encouraging breast milk production during their separation) and baby gets Mama’s scent (teaching baby what Mama smells like). The Gtube covers are typically used by babies who have “Graduated” the NICU. Sometimes, the only way they can go home is with a small “port” in their stomach where they can get nutrition.

Volunteers are an important and integral part of Richmond County Hospice, Inc. We invite you to enjoy the personal satisfaction and rewards of helping others. Hold the hand of a patient, provide emotional support to a family member, or provide a break for a caregiver. You may help with reading, letter writing, or just become a companion. As a Hospice volunteer, you are an essential part of our organization, helping us to serve our patients with peace, comfort, and dignity.

REV coordinates occasional volunteer events in support of Richmond County Hospice.

The success of the North Carolina Azalea Festival is made possible through the hard work and dedication of a large corps of community volunteers. Nearly 100 volunteer committees plan and organize events such as the Parade, the Waterfront Street Fair, the Spring Soiree and the community clean-up called Azalea Sweep, as well as critical operations such as communications, transportation, sponsor relations and event hospitality.

Volunteer opportunities may be available for a single day or involve a year-round commitment. The level of involvement you choose depends on your interests and availability. We will work to get you involved in a way that you find both meaningful and enjoyable. Communication with potential new volunteers generally occurs in the beginning of the Fall, and periodically throughout Festival season (Oct-April).

Every year following the Festival we host a special party for all of the Volunteers that helped with the Festival events as a thank you. There are also social events for the Committee Chairs of each of our Committees.

Your volunteer time will be spent helping the food insecure in our community by organizing, packing and distributing food to individuals and families in need. 

Volunteer days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:30am - 12pm. 

We can also pack kits at the branch as supplies and time permits.  This includes food kits and hygiene kits. 

When you log your hours please note if your time was spent at Our Daily Bread onsite or at the branch creating kits. Your travel time to drop off the kits can be included in your volunteer time. 

Participation in CCUL Chapter events that help aid in the advancement of credit unions' purpose through local and regional means.
